Bass Day Motown Museum

Bass Day, and I Am Not Talkin’ Fishin’.

Motown Museum marked its 65th Anniversary in 2024. One event I documented was Motown Bass Day. On a breezy February morning, more than 65 bass players were welcomed to come and jam outside. Seating and electrical cords were well run to assist all the needs of the musicians.

The house band produced a distinctive bass line selection of power-house Motown Tunes. James Jamerson, long-time bass player for Motown House Band, must have been jamming with them inside his grave.

The audience got bigger and bigger throughout the event.

Interesting and engaging audience members supported Motown’s world-wide influence.

I spoke briefly to this working musician in his stage outfit.  Nice guy. What caught my attention in the background was Mom (standing) with bass musician daughter seated in the same row.

A lovely time.

End
